GMO Free Connecticut holds organizational meeting - New York Food | Examiner.com

A few people were new to this issue and were persuaded to join the meeting based on seeing or reading Jeffrey Smith’s book (and movie) Genetic Roulette. The movie version of this book was released in time to be used in the California Proposition 37 fight last year. It is narrated by Lisa Oz, Dr Mehmet Oz’s wife. The proposition failed. You can download the movie fairly cheaply, or you can view it here for free.

Cook-Littman is apparently a paid lobbyist, as was her associate Catherine Sawyer who said she would be spending the next three months in the Fairfield County area. Funding apparently is provided by Institute for Responsible Technology (Jeffrey Smith’s organization), the Organic Consumer’s Association (primarily an organization of organic businesses), Democracy Now, and the Sierra Club.

Catherine Sawyer then spoke briefly, noting her 3 month assignment in the Fairfield County area, and emphasizing that consumers have a right to know what is in their food and make their own decisions.
