This bill expires in six months, as it is a temporary spending bill passed to prevent government shutdown. The protection provision may or may not be renewed, but it sets a bad precedent that allows corporations to bypass consumer safety protections with the help of Congress. It also treats court challenges as a privilege, not a right.
