Vote YES on I-522 | Washington Democrats

Vote YES on I-522 | Washington Democrats:

The battle over Initiative 522 has set records. 1
Initiative 522 ensures that genetically engineered foods are labeled, allowing consumers to make informed choices about how they feed their families.
But big business like Monsanto, Bayer, Coca-Cola, and General Mills want to keep you from having that information. They’ve contributed a record $21.4 million to defeat I-522, even breaking campaign laws in the process. 2
Studies show that an overwhelming majority of Americans support the right to know what's in our food. That’s why we support a YES vote on Initiative 522.
Our friends at Yes on 522 have being overwhelmed by the millions being spent by Monsanto and their friends on false and misleading attack ads. 3
Their tactics are predictable: they use millions to pump out advertising calling the proposal "complex" and warning of untold costs to taxpayers and consumers.
We know this can work -- popular support has already seen similar laws enacted across Europe, Australia, and much of the rest of the world.
In fact, studies show labeling won't increase food bills, and the law is straightforward: label foods that contain genetically engineered ingredients.
Think this election doesn’t matter? If it didn’t matter, Big Business wouldn’t be spending record amounts to defeat Initiative 522.
Please join us in supporting the consumer’s right to know what they are buying. Just three more days to go. VOTE YES ON INITIATIVE 522
Sincerely,
Dwight Pelz
