BREAKING (not so good) NEWS: GENERAL MILLS ANNOUNCED ORIGINAL CHEERIOS WILL BE GMO-FREE. Original Cheerios boxes will be labeled as "Not Made With Genetically Modified Ingredients." But the boxes will say that trace amounts of GMO ingredients could be present due to contamination during the manufacturing process, said Mike Siemienas, a company spokesman.
This leads us to ask: What does "not made with GM ingredients" mean? Cheerios already only had trace amounts of GMO in Cheerios. This is what we do know: They claim GMOs are safe, have contributed to defeating mandatory GMO labeling in CA in 2012, and participated in an illegal money laundering scheme in WA to defeat mandatory GMO labeling there. And now they want us to just believe them with their voluntary labeling, while no legal state... or national GMO labeling standards exist? And without any independent verification?
